World-Class Customer Experience Reflected in Our Net Promoter Score

At Appleton Woods, customers sit at the heart of everything we do. Because of this, we actively seek honest customer feedback throughout the year. Listening closely helps us understand what works well and where improvement matters most. 

Why We Run a Customer Satisfaction Survey

To better measure customer experience, we recently ran a Customer Satisfaction Survey. We invited a randomly selected group of customers to take part. All responses remained anonymous to encourage open and honest feedback.

Additionally, as a thank you for their time, participants could enter a prize draw. One respondent will receive a £50 Love2Shop voucher. We then used the survey results to calculate our Net Promoter Score® (NPS).

What Is the Net Promoter Score (NPS)

The NPS measures how likely a customer is to recommend a company. Specifically, it asks whether customers would suggest a product or service to a colleague or peer. 

NPS works by comparing promoters and detractors. Promoters actively recommend a business, while detractors feel dissatisfied. The difference between these groups creates the final score. 

Achieving an Outstanding NPS Score

Appleton Woods achieved a Net Promoter Score of 75. This result places us firmly in the Outstanding NPS score category. Industry benchmarks consider this level world-class.

However, the score represents more than a number. It reflects consistent effort across teams and daily customer interactions. 

What the Results Tell Us

Survey responses highlighted strengths across the customer journey. For order processing, communication, and delivery times, all respondents reported being Highly Satisfied or better. 

Furthermore, feedback on customer service and sales support proved equally positive. Customers either required no assistance or felt Extremely Satisfied with the support provided.

This outstanding result belongs to our people. Behind every order and every interaction is a team committed to doing the right thing, the right way. From our Sales Representatives to our Customer Service Officers (CSOs), and through to our drivers and logistics team, each group plays a vital role in delivering the experience reflected in our Net Promoter Score. 

Our Sales Representatives work on a true scientist-to-scientist basis. They focus on understanding real laboratory challenges and building long-term, relationship-driven partnerships rather than transactional sales. That relationship continues through our CSOs, who value clear, open channels of communication and take the time to listen, respond, and follow through. Finally, our drivers and logistics team ensure orders arrive reliably and on time, completing the journey with the same level of care and professionalism shown at every earlier stage. 

This approach reflects our Appleton Woods values. We believe in people-to-people service, not automated responses or AI-driven shortcuts. Feedback is valued because it helps us learn, improve and strengthen those relationships. That is why we are so proud of this result. It confirms that our commitment to clarity, trust, and human expertise is felt and recognised by our customers.
