Meet Sian – our Customer Services Manager

We’re very pleased to announce the appointment of Sian Davies to Customer Services Manager. Sian has been with us over 10 years, originally joining us as a Customer Services Officer.

Learn more about Sian below:

  1. How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Hate these types of questions, hahaha! Friendly, approachable and ummm short, can I use that as one?

  1. How are you settling into your new role as Customer Service Manager?

It has been great so far, the support I have received from the AW family (colleagues and customers included) has made settling in very easy. I still have my training wheels on for some on the Duty Site Manager tasks I now have, but I shall get there.

  1. Love the picture! Where were you holidaying?

Mexico! The whole family got together for a trip to celebrate my mom’s 50th Birthday (the picture is a few years old). It was great from what I can remember, the free tequila mini bar makes some part of the holiday a little fuzzy.

  1. What kind of things do you like to do in your spare time?

I have started to concentrate a lot more on gardening. My goal this year is to grow the majority of the vegetables I eat myself. I did a trial run last year and successfully grew sweetcorn, tomatoes, carrots and radishes.

  1. What has been your biggest challenge so far in your new role?

That it has coincided with the COVID pressure we are all feeling at the moment. Stock demand on certain items has been tough. Our customers are amazing. Their patience and understanding whilst we get through it together is phenomenal, it has made a hard task a little easier. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter by the day.

  1. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!

I have a pet blue lobster called Sebastian. Well, they are known as blue lobsters but technically it’s a crayfish.

  1. Are you watching any interesting Netflix series at the moment?

I love horror/ thrillers so recently watched Ratched. I’m also currently watching Star Trek Discovery.

  1. What is your favourite AW product and why?

Siemens CLINITEST Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test. The why speaks for itself on that item!

  1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years at the company?

Sitting back in my chair with my feet up knowing everything is running smoothly, whilst contemplating retirement. Joking aside I honestly don’t know, as long as it is customer-focused, I will be happy.

  1. Lastly, tell us about the latest projects/endeavours you are overseeing at AW?

New and improved warehouse. Last week we completed phase 1 and 2 (it was only supposed to be phase 1 but I got carried away). Phase 1 was creating more bulk pallet storages spaces for our orders such as tips and centrifuge tubes that are en route. We have created a flat mezzanine, installed new racking and also amended some old racking. In total, we have created over 50 pallet spaces. Phase two was creating more shelving space and also a cold storage room for the Appleton Reagents. I took plenty of pictures along the way!

Phase 3 is our new fork truck to help us reach the new pallet spaces, that is en route and shall be in use soon!
