Appleton Woods has now been appointed as a distributor for Miele's range of laboratory glassware washers. These washers have been specifically designed to meet laboratory requirements, with optimised processes, reproducible results and a high degree of reliability.

The G7883 series of front-loading underbench glassware washer-disinfectors feature Miele's new Multitronic Novo Plus controller, an easy-to-use system with eight standard wash programmes that cover 90% of all laboratory applications. All units have a built-in water softener that reduces limescale deposits while a powerful 400 l/min circulation pump ensures excellent, reproducible cleaning results. The G7883CD model offers complete HEPA-filtered glassware drying and automatic dispensing of liquid detergent and neutralising agent. A wide range of inserts and injector baskets are available, including those for narrow-necked glassware, allowing complete flexibility. All Miele glassware washers are WRAS-approved for fluid risk category 5.

Appleton Woods, a UK supplier of laboratory equipment and consumables for over 40 years, has introduced the New Brunswick Scientific (NBS) range of Ultra-Low Temperature (ULT) Freezers to its product supply. The range includes the new Innova and Premium series of hydrocarbon propane/butane-based -86 °C freezers - the most environmentally friendly, energy efficient ULT freezers available.

The new hydrocarbon models from NBS, Innova U725-G and Premium U570-G, have the same advanced features as the original Innova U725 and Premium U570 freezers models, but consume five to ten per cent less power.

HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons) are a known greenhouse gas, so by switching to a hydrocarbon propane/butane-based refrigeration system, NBS can offer an environmentally friendly, energy efficient ULT freezer, while maintaining safety and reliability.

All of the NBS freezers are exceptionally energy efficient, consuming roughly half the power of other similarly sized ULT freezers. All are CE-certified, meet WEEE Directives for disposal and are 95 to 98 per cent (by weight) recyclable. Water-cooled models are also available for even greater energy savings.

Until 31st August 2008, Appleton Woods is offering free racking (worth up to £2,844) with any Innova or Premium upright -86 °C freezer.
